BMW B58 engine a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six introduced in 2015 as part of BMW’s modular engine family, succeeding the N55. It features a closed-deck aluminum block, an integrated water-to-air intercooler, and a twin-scroll turbocharger, delivering a balance of performance, efficiency, and refinement. Depending on the variant, it produces between 322-382 horsepower and around 450 to 500 Nm of torque.
The B58 engine is found in various models including 3 Series, 4 Series, 5 Series, 6 Series, 7 Series, X3, X4, X5, X6, X7, Z4, M240i, M340i, and the Toyota GR Supra.
The B58 engine uses LL-12 FE or LL-87 coolant, a nitrite- and phosphate-free ethylene glycol-based formula. It should be mixed 50/50 with distilled water for optimal cooling and corrosion protection.
Depending on the model and tuning, the B58 engine produces between 322 to 382 HP (240 to 285 kW). Higher-performance versions, like in the Toyota Supra and M340i, reach 382 HP.
